Turntables for the music you already own

REWIND has 3 turntables that play your own music files: a portable suitcase player from 1968, a linear-tracking turntable from 1972 and a direct-drive deck from 1979. The tonearm travels across the record as the song plays, and a finger on the platter scratches.

Can I scratch the record?

Yes. Put a finger on the record and drag. The sound follows your hand, and releasing lets the record run on. The how DJ scratching works post explains the idea behind it.

Does the tonearm move with the song?

It does. The arm creeps across the record as the track plays, so you can see how far along you are. Why does one arm swing in an arc and another slide straight? Read linear tracking turntables explained and belt drive vs direct drive.
