REWIND: 3 turntables for your own files

REWIND has 3 turntables: a 1968 portable suitcase record player, a 1972 turntable with a linear-tracking tonearm and a 1979 direct-drive DJ deck. The tonearm moves across the record as the song plays, and you can put a finger on the record to scratch. The analog sound section includes a vinyl crackle slider. It also plays your music on 10 pocket cassette and 11 CD machines.

Limits: the turntables are part of PRO, since the free machines are cassette and CD players. iPhone only, no streaming, no Apple Music import. More on the vinyl record player page.

MP95: a free turntable with hi-fi tools

MP95's turntable is free on iPhone, iPad and Mac, per its pricing page, and puts your album art on the record label. It adds bit-perfect output, USB DAC rate matching and 35+ codecs, and runs on Android as well. It has one turntable where REWIND has 3. Compare in REWIND vs MP95.

Vinyl Fetish: albums played side by side

Vinyl Fetish turns Apple Music, iTunes or manually synced albums into virtual vinyl and plays them one side at a time. It supports 7-inch 45s, 10-inch 78s, center labels from Discogs and a 3D crate view, and offers widgets and iCloud sync. Crackle, colored vinyl and extra themes are Premium. The listing requires iOS 26.0 or later, which rules out older phones.

MD Vinyl: the most-rated option

MD Vinyl describes a virtual turntable and record with album art and a drop-the-needle feel, for iPhone and iPad. It has by far the largest rating count here, about 28,800 US ratings averaging 4.6, and its Pro upgrade is $14.99. Its description does not say which music sources it plays, so check before you rely on it for your own files.

Vinyls and Vinyl Widget: library and Home Screen takes

Vinyls - Record Player turns your Apple Music library into spinning records, with a tonearm that drops onto the groove, finger scratching, haptics and a cobweb effect for unplayed albums. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and scores about 3.8 from 119 ratings. Its listing says playback requires an active Apple Music subscription. Vinyl Widget puts a spinning record on the Home Screen and plays Apple Music songs; a subscription is needed for unlimited widget songs. It has about 4.7 from 2,412 ratings.
