REWIND: the widest range of cassette machines

REWIND shows your files on 10 pocket cassette players, plus 2 home decks (a 1974 reel-to-reel and a 1978 cassette deck), a 1980 portable recorder and a 1985 twin-speaker boombox. You swipe the cassette to wind and rewind, and a pause makes a real tape stop. The analog sound section has saturation, wobble and hiss sliders. Most free machines are cassette players.

Limits: iPhone only, no streaming, and no hi-res or DSD. It plays MP3, AAC/M4A, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, FLAC and CAF. See the full cassette player page and the cassette deck page.

MP95: the hi-fi cassette deck

MP95's cassette deck is free forever on Apple devices, according to its pricing page, and the app adds bit-perfect output, USB DAC rate matching, a 10-band equalizer with AutoEQ and 35+ codecs. It has six machines in all, including a turntable, a reel-to-reel and a CD player, and it runs on Android, Mac and iPad. Rating volume is tiny so far: five US ratings. The head-to-head is in REWIND vs MP95.

CassoFlow: cassette skin with server sources

CassoFlow's listing describes a skeuomorphic cassette player with multiple player and cassette themes, simulated cassette hiss and wow-flutter, and sources that include Apple Music, Subsonic, Navidrome, Audio Station and local music. PRO is sold as a subscription from $1.99 a month or a $9.99 lifetime purchase. It had 15 US ratings in October 2026, averaging about 4.7, so the sample is small.

Tape and Tape2: simple cassette front ends

Tape is a $1.99 app that shows an animated cassette and plays songs from the Apple Music app on your phone. The listing says it only works if you have music in the Apple Music app, and describes swipe gestures for tracks and cassettes. It averages about 4.5 stars from 259 ratings. The same developer lists a free sibling, Tape2, with a near-identical description and 51 ratings.

Solos: a cassette face for Apple Music

Solos is free and describes classic retro cassette-player interfaces for playing your Apple Music. It scores about 4.9 from 14 US ratings and its listing was last updated in January 2025, so check recent reviews. We could not verify details beyond its short description.
