A hi-fi cassette deck with amber VU meters
REWIND has a 1978 hi-fi cassette deck with walnut side panels. A smoked lid shows the cassette with your song title on its label, the spools turn and the tape winds. Gray piano keys run along a silver strip, and two large amber backlit VU meters follow the music. It needs REWIND PRO.

What is on the front panel?
The 1978 deck has a smoked lid over the cassette, a silver strip of gray piano keys (EJECT, REC, ◀◀, ▶, ▶▶, STOP, PAUSE) with labels under them, and a mechanical counter with RESET. BIAS and EQ levers and AUTO STOP sit nearby.
The black panel has MIC and PHONES jacks, two big amber VU meters with needles, a PEAK LEVEL LED and five level sliders: MIC L/R, LINE L/R and OUT. The record key is part of the drawn look and REWIND does not record.

How is it different from a pocket cassette player?
It is a hi-fi deck, so the cassette sits under a smoked lid and the controls are big keys and meters. The pocket machines show a cassette mechanism up close. Compare them on the cassette player page.
Does the counter count real time?
The mechanical counter rolls while the tape runs, as it does on a real deck. Treat it as part of the show rather than a precise clock.
How do I get the best sound from it?
Turn on the analog sound switch, then try the Warm preset in the equalizer. For tape types, read cassette tape types.
