What was CD in 1996?
In 1996 portable CD players were everywhere, from gym bags to car seats. Rechargeable battery packs, tiny LCDs and remote cables with display became common. Anti-skip buffers had got longer, and you could jog without the song stuttering. Mix CDs were still a few years from mass use.
What does the S400 show?
At the top is a black bracket holding a green control board and a small LCD. Beneath it a blue battery pack sits half hidden under the disc. The disc is drawn like a black record with a peach center label. When your track has cover art the label shows it. Slivers of green board appear at the rim, and a plug sits on the right.
The disc spins and the carriage follows the song.
- Tiny LCD on a green board
- Blue battery pack under the disc
- Peach label or cover art
- Plug on the right edge
Which sound settings suit the S400?
Keep the machine clean: hiss and wobble off, a whisper of saturation. The equalizer Vocal preset helps spoken word and singer-songwriter tracks; Air keeps drums crisp. Use the pulse background for a gym-session feel.
Is the 1996 CD Player free or PRO?
The S400 is a softer, peach-colored CD option. It belongs to REWIND PRO: weekly $2.99, yearly $19.99 with a 3-day free trial, or lifetime $24.99 once. Without PRO you still get 8 machines, plus analog sound and the equalizer on all of them.
